Twitter recognized The Heritage Foundation’s digital team for its creative use of the micro-blogging platform today in an award ceremony hosted by Twitter DC.

Heritage won a Tweetie Trophy for Best Use of Rich Media in a Promoted Tweet. Twitter singled out a tweet from the @Heritage handle that shared a Heritage video about Obamacare during heightened attention on the defund debate last year.

This is the first year Twitter has given the awards, which are meant to honor best practices by paid users of the social media platform.

Twitter presented four awards at the event held at The Hamilton Live, including Best Use of Rich Media in a Promoted Tweet, Best Real-Time Promoted Tweet, Best Call-To-Action in a Promoted Tweet, and Best Promoted Twitter & TV Integration.

Nominees for the award that Heritage won included the organizations Covered California, Protect Care, and Fuels America. Voting happened through Twitter on Tuesday morning using the hashtag #VoteHeritage.
